41 wounded arrive in early hours for Oldway - 2 July 1914

Abridged from Paignton Western Guardian 5 July 1917

In the earlier hours of Monday a convoy of forty-one wounded soldiers (26 cot and 15 walking) arrived at Paignton for Oldway Hospital. This now fills up the vacant beds, the hospital being again full.

The New Zealand band and Maori dancers gave a much appreciated performance at Oldway Hospital on Saturday afternoon to the patients and staff, who listened to a capital programme from the terrace.

Owing to the very unfavourable weather on Friday, the visit of the New Zealand band and Maori dancers had to be abandoned. Rain had fallen heavily all the morning, and the evening was exceedingly cold and cheerless. On Saturday afternoon the band played at Oldway Hospital, the patients, staff and others greatly appreciated the programme.
