Miss Eleanor Scott, former Matron AWWH - 5 December 1917

On Wednesday afternoon, December 5th, Miss Walter Hines Page presented Miss Eleanor Scott, late Matron of the American Women’s War Hospital at Paignton, with a gold watch, “In grateful recognition of her devoted services to sick and wounded British soldiers at the American Women’s War Hospital.” Miss Scott was a member of one of the American Red Cross Units sent to Great Britain in 1914; and was a Sister at the American Women’s War Hospital, from November 1st 1914, until September 1916, when she was appointed Matron, leaving only to take up duty in France.
