Munsey Ward (originally Mary Ward) was created within the former banqueting hall. This linear space provided accommodation for 60 to 70 beds, and a temporary annexe was created to divest soldiers of their kit prior to admittance to the ward. The floors, here and elsewhere in the buildings, are varnished, and on the walls scientifically distempered; electric light is fitted in specially, and the ward lockers all have marble tops (Paignton Western Guardian 17 September 1914).
