Abridged from the Paignton Western Guardian 24 August 1916
A good many of the convalescent patients have been leaving Oldway of late, which fact permitted a convoy of 56 cot cases to be received on Saturday. These travelled by train from Southampton, arriving here shortly before six o’clock. A good supply of ambulances conveyed the wounded men to Hospital, and the carrying of stretchers was once more ably done by members of Paignton Fire Brigade. The wounded men appeared to be in various stages of progress and as usual were a cheery lot of souls. Their arrival was witnessed by a considerable crowd of people.
